Part A – Report on Sustainable Consumption in Three Key Sectors
This report is part of Deliverable D1, Dataset on main enablers and drivers of sustainable consumption, developed within the GRINS project – Growing Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable (Spoke 1 – Firms’ sustainability).
Its objective is to provide the research context and an integrated reading of the main results emerging from the data collected through six longitudinal surveys conducted in the period 2024–2025. The surveys focus on consumer behavior in three key sectors for the ecological transition: consumer electronics (smartphones), clothing, and food.
This report constitutes the first part of the deliverable (Part A) and is accompanied by the “Guide to the dataset consultation” (Part B): while the report, after a brief theoretical framing, describes the main empirical evidence derived from the six surveys conducted, highlighting the main behavioral dynamics across the three sectors analyzed, the guide instead illustrates in detail the variables included in each dataset, reporting for each the conceptual definition, the measurement methods at the individual level (e.g., question, scale, and items), as well as the procedures used to construct aggregated variables at the provincial level.
Part B – Guide to Dataset Consultation
This document is part of the Deliverable D1.1 “Dataset on main enablers and drivers of sustainable consumption”.
It provides guidance for the consultation and interpretation of the datasets developed within Task 1.1.3. The datasets are based on six survey waves conducted on a sample of 2,000 respondents, representative of the Italian population aged 18–70 and are aggregated at the provincial level.
The purpose of this guide is to support users in correctly understanding the structure of the datasets, the definition of variables, and the methodological approach adopted for the measurement and construction of indicators (e.g., counts, percentages, means, and standard deviations).
The datasets include both socio-demographic variables and a comprehensive set of behavioural and psychological indicators related to sustainable consumption across multiple sectors.
Given the breadth and complexity of the information collected, this guide aims to ensure transparency, facilitate comparability across waves, and promote consistent use of the data for research and analysis.
This guide is provided in Italian, as this choice reflects the national scope of the data collection. Presenting the guide in Italian enhances clarity and precision for primary users and stakeholders operating within the national context.
It also provides a more in-depth description of each variable, complementing the metadata already included in the datasets uploaded on AMELIA, which are likewise available in Italian.
